Ordos International Plaza

Year 2011 | Inner Mongolia, China

This 300-acre mixed-use development is situated at the heart of the city’s urban fabric, positioned between a transit center and a man-made lake. It is designed to serve as a true urban landmark, resonating not only with the city but also with the broader province of Inner Mongolia.

Situated prominently adjacent to the new high-speed rail transportation hub, the development ensures a synergy of activities and a dynamic flow of human movement, making the Ordos International Plaza a regional reference point.

The project is organized into five zones:
• A six-star hotel and conference center with a recreational lake and a wedding chapel.

• A luxury shopping center featuring internationally renowned brands.

• A condo-hotel with small-scale retail spaces.

• An office building adjacent to expansive commercial spaces.

These elements are arranged along a prominent pedestrian axis that transforms into an elevated commercial bridge. This bridge hosts shops, entertainment venues, and dining establishments, providing direct access to the high-speed rail terminal currently under construction.

The central feature of the project is an elevated commercial bridge that houses an array of attractive storefronts while linking the mixed-use development to the transit center. The project has been meticulously designed to address Inner Mongolia’s challenging environmental conditions, characterized by extreme temperature fluctuations and persistent strong winds. It achieves this through a sustainable integration of open spaces with the various building functions, creating a harmonious balance between the environment and urban life.
