Weber House II

This project emerged as the Weber family’s second commission to the studio, after the first had been assigned to another family member.
The open layout—defined by multiple courtyards and semi-covered areas, along with interior spaces resolved through double orientation—responds directly to the local climate.
Special emphasis was placed on the treatment of transitional spaces between the public and the private realms. Highlighting the concept of the front garden, characteristic of the neighborhood in which the house is located, led to the creation of a space that gradually introduces the visitor into the interior, with the clear intention of generating a sequence in which diverse spatial alternatives unfold. The Curuchet House stands as an unavoidable precedent for this approach.
The bedroom block, spanning from party wall to party wall over this space, functions as a large gallery and as the roof for the parking area. Within this atrium, a semi-elevated walkway leads to the main entrance, separated from the service entrance, which remains at sidewalk level.
Once inside, a series of situations unfolds, generating a fluid sequence of multiple spatial experiences connected by staircases and elevated walkways. This spatial richness is accompanied by a certain degree of structural audacity.
The project’s spatial and constructive singularity gives rise to a highly distinctive expression, resulting in an image that departs from traditional housing patterns. This structure-driven aesthetic is reinforced by a language associated with prefabrication, achieved through the careful grooving of the formwork, which conveys the illusion of assembled components.
The visual impact of the façade is defined by the cantilevered resolution of the front volume, while the modular character is further emphasized by the depth of the balconies.
