Iguazú Falls Hotel - Sheraton International
Year 1982 | Misiones, Argentina
The majestic and powerful Iguazú Falls are respectfully celebrated through the design of a simple yet striking building oriented directly towards the cascading waters.
The hotel stands as the only man-made structure in the heart of the Iguazú National Park, offering unobstructed views of the falls. Spanning 150,000 square feet, this resort complex includes 180 rooms with private terraces, a retail center located on a separate level, and a diverse array of dining and recreational facilities.
Among its unique features is an underground nightclub illuminated by a large skylight that subtly emerges from the lawn, allowing natural light to flood the space during the day.
Constructed with poured-in-place concrete, the exterior has remained unchanged for over 40 years, preserving the original design intent while withstanding the warm and humid tropical environment.

As a major tourist destination, the hotel exemplifies a profound respect for its natural surroundings. The landscaping is inspired by the park’s protected flora and transitions seamlessly into footpaths and walkways that wind over the 2.5-mile expanse of the falls.
